A while ago I put together a list of famous people who had worked for Disney in their younger, pre-fame days. The page has received a lot of attention and many, many hits. Every once in a while I find a new name to add to the roll of honour, but imagine my surprise when I found a friend of mine from the Opening Crew of EuroDisney is now a big noise in Hollywood.
To leave Disney is one thing, to have Disney leave you is quite another.
In March 2009, the Orlando Sentinel’s Jason Garcia announced the news Cast Members at Walt Disney World had dreaded;
Last week I poster a tread online talking about the recent layoffs in Anaheim and Orlando. I was looking to write what I hoped could be an upbeat post about how former Disney Cast Members were well equipped to face the world looking for new jobs. On the whole the people I have spoken to are optimistic but there is a dark undercurrent running, and it is one I find hard to stomach.
I will write up a longer, hopefully balanced post later in the week but I feel I must report that the common thread to all of the replies is the poor handling of the layoffs by Team Leaders and managers.
The Listings page is up and running in it’s most basic form, I need to do a little work on the look of the page but that is just window dressing. The registration form to post a resume on line is also available by following the instructions below.
1. If you have not already a member sign up for the After the Mouse community
2. When you have completed the sign up and confirmed your email use the “My time at Disney” to give your profile a little more life, believe me employers look at social network profiles to get a better idea of who they are interviewing.
We at After the Mouse.com are doing what we can to help them out.
Many of our friends have been laid of this year and I as an ex Cast Member am determined to do what I can to help. So, as well as providing this little community to get us all talking, I am opening up the “Hire a Cast Member page” where embers of the community who are out looking to continue their careers have a place to say to potential employers out there I am a Disney professional and I can help your business!
Guests - you have got to love them, really you have. They love the Mouse, they happily spend money and Disney then pays our wages from that money. As I said you have to love them. 99% of those Guests come and go merrily and we as Cast Members look after them without really having to think too hard about it - it comes naturally.
I saw this on Twitter and followed it up...
"jupitusphillip: RT @IT_Trainer: @jupitusphillip Disney only ever made one movie...http://tinyurl.com/d9fsjl (AMAZING STUFF WATCH THIS!) "
I hate to say it but it looks like we have been had - for years!

We are or were Disney Cast Members, the best in the business, world famous for creativity, service and commitment to quality!
BUT the economy is slowing down, the Mouse can’t afford to keep us all on and some of us are looking for work, this is good news for the employers out there who need the skills that fully trained Disney Professionals can bring to their businesses!
I am proud to introduce a new contributor to After the Mouse.com. Amanda Kelley. Having read Amanda’s forum post how to cope with the separation from Disney I encouraged her to give us her story of what having been a College Program Cast Member meant to her. Please read on...
Mr. Mouse Administrator asked me to write a story about how my life has been since I have left Disney and obviously I have agreed.
