Other dress designs were inspired by classic Disney characters and stories including Minnie Mouse, Snow White from Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and Alice from Walt Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland.”

Matching accessories, such as handbags resembling an apple, the White Rabbit, or a Hollywood Tower Hotel suitcase, will also be released.

Guests can view the entire collection when The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane opens inside the accessories boutique at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs on March 31.

... Select items from this collection will also be released on March 31 at Vault 28 in Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. There will be a limited time offering of select items from the new collection beginning mid-April in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.

This collection will not be available via the Shop Disney Parks app or Disney Parks online store at time of launch.

Although the pattern was only included in the publicity photos, it was also announced that there would be an Orange Bird dress included in the collection. Attached Images

Time for fun

intercot.com - Tue, 2017-03-14 19:28
If you could design your own restaurant in Disney World, what would it be?

I think I would place one in Animal Kingdom that is designed to look like the Moors in Maleficent when she turns it dark. The dark sky, blue lights highlighting the trees with twinkling Christmas tree type lights. Candles on the tables.
The windows could be made to look like you are looking out on the Moors when it is bright and sunny.
I would have the waiters and waitresses dress like young Stefan and young Maleficent.
The food would be Medieval inspired food with medieval type place settings perhaps made out of wood or made to look like it is made out of wood.
The building itself could be made to look like a large stone monolith rising up out of the trees.

I figure if they can do Pandora, they can do the Moors.

Winter storm STELLLLAAAAAA

intercot.com - Tue, 2017-03-14 11:47
I know many of us are in Stella's path. Who is home today?

I type this from my home as I work from my living room this morning in Ithaca, NY. I hope my fellow INTERCOTees impacted by the storm from Maine to DC are staying safe and warm. I am lucky to have the privilege of choosing to work from home and having that support from my employer, and I recognize that many other people don't have that choice and can't afford not to show up for work no matter the conditions. If you are lucky enough to have a "snow day" with no consequences, have a great day and stay safe. If you can't- if you are the person plowing the streets so our law enforcement, first response, and power companies can keep us safe and the wifi running, if you are the doctors and nurses who trudge through awful weather to deliver babies and save lives, THANK YOU!

You're In Luck if you are Looking for Walt Disney World St. Patrick's Day Treats

You're In Luck if you are Looking for Walt Disney World St. Patrick's Day Treats:

The biggest celebration at Walt Disney World Resort is the Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Raglan Road at Disney Springs. This is the real deal, with Irish Chef Kevin Dundon’s authentic cuisine, Irish bands and pro dancers, a fine selection of beers and cocktails and all sorts of St. Pat’s fun. The party stretches from March 16-19, and the craic (Gaelic for fun) will be mighty.

On St. Patrick’s Day, you can find the cutest cupcake at Fountain View at Epcot: yellow cake with green and white buttercream and a leprechaun hat made of a chocolate sandwich cookie and a marshmallow. Three gold nuggets (from the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?) are the finishing touch.

In Magic Kingdom Park’s Main Street Bakery, the St. Pat’s cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting with four-leaf clover sprinkles is the perfect holiday Instagram opportunity. And beginning March 12 at Casey’s Corner, celebrate with a new gourmet hot dog, topped with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and whole grain mustard.

If you’re passing through Disney’s Contemporary Resort on the monorail (or a guest at the resort), stop in Contempo Café for a fancy Leprechaun’s Pot of Gold Cupcake, a delectable vanilla cupcake filled with green lemon filling with a dollop of yellow “gold” lemon filling in the center, then topped with green swirled buttercream icing and decorations of gold chocolate coins and sprinkles. Take a photo before you’re tempted to start eating.

At Epcot, Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom pavilion celebrates the day with green beer – perfect with the restaurant’s corned beef and cabbage.

Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park Beloved Attraction Celebrates 50 Years of Swashbuckling Fun and Adventure

disneylandnews.com/ - Mon, 2017-03-13 21:21

ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 13, 2017) – Since its debut at Disneyland Park in California in 1967, Walt Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean adventure has thrilled hundreds of millions of guests from around the world. An immersive and engaging entertainment experience, it’s steeped in detail and rollicking pirate fun. It debuted as a technological marvel and storytelling masterpiece and, for decades, this award-winning attraction has been considered one of the pinnacles of theme park experiences worldwide.

The original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which inspired a global phenomenon and launched a highly popular film franchise, celebrates its 50th anniversary at Disneyland on March 18, 2017.

Today, guests enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at five Disney theme parks around the world: Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort; Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort; Tokyo Disneyland Park at Tokyo Disney Resort; Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris; and Shanghai Disneyland at Shanghai Disney Resort.

Here are some of the fun facts, trivia and milestones associated with one of Walt Disney’s greatest entertainment achievements.

FUN FACTS ABOUT PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ATTRACTION
  • Pirates of the Caribbean was the last Disneyland attraction personally supervised by Walt Disney. It was designed by WED Enterprises (now called Walt Disney Imagineering).
  • The attraction originally was envisioned as a New Orleans-themed Blue Bayou Mart featuring a Pirate Wax Museum, housed in a 70-foot deep basement. The basement now serves as the grotto section of the attraction.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean was loosely inspired by such Hollywood films as “Captain Blood,”
“The Sea Hawk” and “The Buccaneer,” plus Disney’s “Treasure Island,” “Kidnapped” and “Swiss Family Robinson.”
  • It cost $15 million to build New Orleans Square, the home for Pirates of the Caribbean. This is equal to the amount the United States paid for the real New Orleans in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.
  • The attraction façade was partly inspired by the Cabildo building in Jackson Square in New Orleans that served as the seat of the Spanish colonial government in 1799. It is also noted for being the site where the Louisiana Purchase was signed in 1803.
  • Guests ride through the attraction in a 1,838-foot canal.
  • Approximately 120 animated characters (human characters plus nine different types of animated animals) appear in the Audio-Animatronics cast of Pirates of the Caribbean.
  • Several original designers and Imagineers for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction have since become Disney Legends, an honorary title bestowed on individuals by The Walt Disney Company.
  • Disney Imagineer X Atencio, who wrote the attraction’s memorable tune, “Yo-Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” is the voice of the Jolly Roger skull and crossbones, seen just before guests plunge down the waterfalls.
  • In the lyrics of the song, “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” the phrase “Yo Ho” is uttered 18 times.
  • Guests ride through the attraction for approximately 15 minutes, on one of the longest rides at Disneyland Resort.
  • Approximately 400 million guests have ridden Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park since its opening in 1967.
  • In 1997, Pirates of the Caribbean won the Thea Classic Award from the Themed Entertainment Association. The Thea Classic Award is given to an outstanding “compelling place and experience” which has been in operation for a minimum of 20 years.
  • The Blue Bayou restaurant in New Orleans Square allows diners to observe passing boats traveling through a bayou, which is the first scene of the attraction. This table service restaurant continues to be the only dining establishment that looks into a dark ride attraction at Disneyland Resort.
  • The concept of Pirates of the Caribbean has come full circle with the attraction initially inspiring the successful film franchise and then the films (starting with the release of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” in 2003) inspiring exciting additions to the attraction.
  • Both Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa from the blockbuster films appear in the attraction and the ghostly image of Davy Jones appears on a waterfall.
  • Guests can spot Captain Jack Sparrow at three different points during their journey.
  • Approximately 400,000 pieces of gold coins and set pieces were added to the attraction during a lengthy refurbishment in 2006 when some of the film characters were added to the story.
  • The Aztec pirate chest used in the film “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” appears in the Treasure Room as the last thing guests see in that scene.
