WDW Weather Forecast - March 1-17, 2017

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-03-01 18:04
I'll update this first post each day with the forecast (though I'll occasionally miss a day), both long and short term. As a general rule, up to 7 days is a pretty accurate forecast, beyond that it's educated guessing and largely dependent upon how well the models are doing at that moment, which is why I call it "voodooland." If you have any specific weather questions or comments, even if it's for an area other than WDW, please post and I'll answer throughout the thread. I'll also post weather tidbits every so often. Without further delay, let's get to the forecast:

Weather at WDW - Update Wednesday pm, March 1, 2017
Look for a high 83-84 and humid today ahead of a cold front. Tomorrow the high should be 80-82 with a thunderstorm probable at some point. It shouldn't last too long as the front will be falling apart by the time it gets to Orlando. Friday through Tuesday looks mostly dry. Only a slight chance of a quick pop up shower in the afternoons. Highs for Friday through Sunday should be 68-70. Monday and Tuesday will be 72-74. Wednesday jumps back to 78-80 with scattered showers moving through during the afternoon with the next cold front.

Long range...March 9-11 is dry with highs back in the low to mid 70s. Rain arrives on March 12. March 13-14 are dry with highs staying in the low to mid 70s but strong to severe thunderstorms move in on March 15. March 16-17 look dry and, again, in the low to mid 70s. As always, ignore the specifics in voodooland. The key is the models are being very consistent on an active pattern so you should expect at least a chance of rain every 3-4 days.

Travel Issues :drive::plane:
Philadelphia, NYC, and Boston are delayed today with low clouds. The East Coast could be messed up the rest of today but no major issues tomorrow.

Any of you who are nervous about flying, especially related to turbulence, go here and here to learn a lot about turbulence and other issues that sometimes cause anxiety when flying. Hopefully all of this will help you relax and enjoy the trip to WDW more!

Positive Quote Of The Day March 2017

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-03-01 12:22
"To think bad thoughts is really the easiest thing in the world. If you leave your mind to itself it will spiral down into ever increasing unhappiness. To think good thoughts, however, requires effort. This is one of the things that discipline - training - is about."
- James Clavell, in his novel Shogun (1924 - 1994) British novelist, screenwriter, director, and World War II veteran and prisoner of war

Thoughts on birthdays

intercot.com - Tue, 2017-02-28 21:42
When our trip planning started, we were going to celebrate two birthdays - one little girl turning five and one turning three. Now it includes 5 birthdays while we will be there. I am not sure how to handle it. How do I make each one feel special? Should we celebrate all the birthdays at one meal? Pick a specific meal to celebrate each one? Have every meal celebrate all the birthdays? Do something else besides a birthday dinner? They will all have birthday pins and first visit pins. Do I let them wear the birthday pins every day or have an assigned day where one girl wears her pin that day? If they were older, it wouldn't be a big deal. Birthdays are important to little kids though.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House pool or savannah view or Riverside river view

intercot.com - Tue, 2017-02-28 16:14
What would you choose if you are going in May this year? From what I have seen Riverside is a very crowded resort. It quickly fills up. Buses fill up quickly. It does have a great food court, lounge, restaurant, pools, bikes and boat to Disney Springs. AKL has animals, great pool, lounge, restaurants and theming. Many people think it is a longer bus drive to many parks, but 5 or 10 mins longer is not a big deal to me. I very much looking forward to responses. Thank you.

Parking logistics question

intercot.com - Tue, 2017-02-28 14:01
We're driving to FL the day of check in. We rented DVC points so we can't check in until 4pm. We have a reservation at O'hana at 3:45.

I'm assuming if we head directly to O'hana, before checking in to SSR, we should be able to show our reservation documents or magic bands as proof of a reservation and not need to pay a parking fee, correct?
