Thanksgiving or Week between Christmas and New Year's - opinions

Wed, 2017-03-08 00:07
Trying to figure out how to get a Disney vacation in this year. The kids are getting older and taking them out of school is not an option. We have been to Disney around Thanksgiving and it is very crowded then. We'd deal with those crowds again, but we'd have to take a shorter trip than we'd like and worry we wouldn't be able to do everything we'd like to do due to the crowd levels. We'd have a little more time at Christmas time, but I've heard the crowds are unbearable the week between Christmas and New Years. I heard that the crowds are the highest all year at that time, but recently heard someone say that Thanksgiving crowds are worse? I am surprised by that. Can anyone who has been at both times of the year help me understand what to expect the week between Christmas and New Years?

Thanks in advance for any opinions and advice!

California Grill

Tue, 2017-03-07 23:15
My DD and I are going to WDW APril 2. We try to do something different every visit, this year we plan to eat at the California Grill so we can see the fireworks, We have 5:45 reservations, the latest I could get, will we be able to stick around for the fireworks? My main question is: As Missouri Farmers we are not the most fond of fancy food. Can we just go for a dessert and still stay or would there be another option at the Contemporary that might suit us better? Thanks for the info.

Better stand by line?

Tue, 2017-03-07 22:28
in regards to the parks with tiers ( Epcot and HS ) and assuming most of us use fast passes on the same attractions in tier 1. ( Test Track / Soarin ) ( RR / TT )
We usually get a fast pass for one of them and go straight to the other at rope drop and get in the stand by line.
Does anyone have an opinion on which ones are better to use the pases on and why? Also , how does the Frozen ride fit into this equation and what's the best way to squeze it in.

Thanks.

AKL Standard or CSR

Tue, 2017-03-07 21:57
My husband and I just decided to go on an anniversary trip to WDW after honeymooning there 14 years ago! He'll already be in Orlando for a conference and I'm flying to meet him on Friday. It's just a 3 day trip (May 12-15), with one park day (Epcot, my choice/favorite). Now I just need to decide which resort to stay at! I've narrowed it down to these and would love some advice!

AKL Standard
- We'd prefer a King bed vs. Two Queens. What are the odds of not getting a King?
- I see that many standard view rooms have a decent savanna view, but is AKL still worth it with standard room?

CSR
- Like that we can purchase the dedicated King rate class.
- Would prefer a renovated room in Ranchos, but worried that it's too far from everything else. Do the non-updated rooms in CSR feel outdated?

Overall
- Which would you consider "more romantic?
- Which has better shuttle service?

Thanks!

After you have made your fast pass selections, is there anyway to see what ones are still available without canceling the ones you have?

Reserving Dining and Fast Pass-

Is it better to call or go through my Disney Exp when booking fast pass plus and dining? Is one better than the other? OR should I do both?

Viewing for illuminations

Besides the rose and crown, are there any other suggestions of a perfect spot to see illuminations? Or a restaurant beside rose and crown?

Desert party

Mon, 2017-03-06 18:50
Hello. My family is trying to decide whether or not to do the Magic Kingdom fireworks dessert party or a dessert party at Hollywood studios. Have anybody done both of these? And can you give us a one down on which when you prefer? What are the desserts? And which one has the best view. Thanks and have a magical day

We have lost a dear friend - STRMCHSR - Christopher Perry

Sun, 2017-03-05 16:26

Sad to hear of the passing this morning of INTERCOT's Staff Meteorologist Christopher Perry. So young and a guy doing so much good. Chris was pastor of Good News United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Will be praying for him this morning and getting together with INTERCOT staff to do something in his memory. Life is so short. Live every moment.

From his parents Facebook via Nanci at Magical Journeys:

Quote: We just received some very tragic and unexpected news. Our oldest son, Christopher, died very unexpectedly last night. To say we are all in shock is a total understatement. We are getting ready to leave Abilene as quickly as we can to head for Santa Rosa Beach to be with our daughter in law and grandsons. Please keep us all in your prayers.

We at INTERCOT have set up a Christopher Perry Fund for his friends on the site to help out his family - the donation link is here:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...=CTG5VQZTS43LG

When donating, you can leave a personal message which INTERCOT will forward with the combined check in his memory. All proceeds will go directly to Chris's family for them to do as they see fit in this, their time of need. Attached Images

Fav dark ride that is yet to come.

Sun, 2017-03-05 00:36
I miss some of the old ride posts. These days its a lot of speculation posts, or ones about FP, or what not.

So how about a good old fashioned...

1. Favorite dark ride of all time?
2. What dark ride would you like to see?
3. Do you do water rides? Why or why not?
4. What water ride would you like to see?

As for me;
1. Tough, but Mr. Toad, 20,000 or Horizons
2. WALLE or Princess and the Frog
3. Florida, no brainer. Doesn't matter what time of year it is.
4. Something like Dudley Do at Universal where you really get wet. Maybe themed to Stitch (finally get that right for that franchise) or to the new Moana.
