Disney Cruise Line Introducing Even More Fun for All Ages with New Spaces and New Experiences Debuting on the Disney Magic in 2018

Tue, 2017-11-14 15:01
A Tangled-themed family restaurant, a fresh new space for teens and a redesigned café for adults means something new for every member of the family aboard the Disney Magic

CELEBRATION, Fla. (Nov. 14, 2017) – Exciting new spaces and new experiences designed for guests of all ages are coming to the Disney Magic in March 2018. From family dining in an enchanted kingdom, to a transformed teen club, to a sophisticated café exclusively for adults, the ship’s newest highlights include:

An Enchanting Dining Experience for Families

At Rapunzel’s Royal Table, families will delight in an all-new dining experience inspired by the beloved story of Disney’s “Tangled.” The first table service restaurant themed to “Tangled” that features characters and live entertainment will transport Disney Magic guests to the kingdom of Corona for an evening of music and interactive fun featuring Rapunzel and the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs.

Guests will step inside a regal ballroom in the royal castle, lit by glowing wish lanterns and adorned with colorful drawings that reflect Rapunzel’s artistic talents. Here, the King and Queen of Corona invite everyone to take part in a festive celebration of Rapunzel’s birthday and the anniversary of her return to the kingdom.

Throughout dinner, guests of all ages will be treated to live entertainment, including spirited singing and dancing led by the maître d’, a merry band of musicians, the mischievous Snuggly Duckling Thugs and of course, Princess Rapunzel herself.

The family fun is complete with themed menus, special activities and a lively parade to cap off the evening in Corona. The charm and enchantment of “Tangled” in Rapunzel’s Royal Table is the perfect pairing to “Tangled: The Musical” – the spellbinding original production that delights guests during each Disney Magic sailing.

Redesigned Retreat Just for Teens

Vibe, the space on the ship reserved for teens ages 14-17, is being transformed into a trendy urban loft environment. At Vibe, teens can enjoy a new coffee and smoothie bar, play video and virtual reality games, and check out other cool activities like a DJ spin-off and movie making. Activities at Vibe are organized and hosted by trained Disney counselors who facilitate the fun and interaction among teen guests.

Refined Escape Exclusively for Adults

Adults can relax at Cove Café, an adult-exclusive retreat that will be redesigned in a sophisticated tropical style. It’s the perfect place to sip a specialty coffee or tea throughout the day, or indulge in wine or a cocktail and light bites during the evening hours.

In this serene setting by the Quiet Cove Pool, adult beverage tastings are also available at select times for an additional fee. Just steps away, the adjacent Signals Bar will also be transformed with a similar look.

Elsewhere around the Disney Magic, other enhancement highlights include the addition of Club Disney Junior in Disney’s Oceaneer Club for children and a redesigned Rainforest Room with steam and hydrotherapy in Senses Spa for adults.

The new enhancements debut on Disney Magic starting March 9, 2018, on sailings from Miami, Fla. The four- and five-night Disney Magic sailings from Miami visit Key West, Fla.; Nassau, Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Beginning on May 14, 2018, the Disney Magic repositions to Europe for the summer season.

These additions are part of an overall commitment by Disney Cruise Line to invest in their ships, helping to deliver incredible family vacation experiences for years to come. While making these enhancements to the Disney Magic, crews perform regularly scheduled and wide-ranging maintenance to keep the fleet in tip-top shape, further demonstrating the unwavering commitment by Disney Cruise Line to continually elevate the guest experience.

The Disney Fantasy continues to sail seven-night Caribbean voyages, with Eastern Caribbean itineraries visiting the Virgin Islands of Tortola and St. Thomas, and Western Caribbean cruises calling on Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman and Falmouth.

The Disney Dream embarks on three- and four-night Bahamian cruises to Nassau and Castaway Cay, and the Disney Wonder will alternate similar three- and four-night itineraries throughout February.

‘Drawn to Magic’ Show at Animator’s Palate Evokes Emotion and Inspires Creativity Onboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder

Fri, 2017-09-15 15:04

CELEBRATION, Fla. – Animator’s Palate on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder inspires creativity with “Drawn to Magic,” a black-and-white to color animation show that surrounds guests in the swirling colors of animated classics and transports their dining experience into a dramatic story of heroes and villains.

The venue, cloaked from floor to ceiling in a classical black and white motif, tips a nostalgic hat to old-time animation in the Steamboat Willie era of Disney’s animation past. Over-sized digital canvases line the walls of Animator’s Palate, where unseen artists sketch character portraits in real-time as guests find their tables and make their dinner selections. Guessing which favorite Disney characters are being sketched becomes a fun game for the whole family, as the likes of their favorite heroes and villains begin to materialize on the walls of the restaurant.

As appetizers begins to arrive, pencil tests of Disney characters are revealed throughout Animator’s Palate, bringing to life iconic moments—from Disney favorites like Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog and more—one canvas at a time.

Guests get their first taste of color when the character pencil tests around the room are treated to ink and paint. Each of the characters are shown throughout the painting process of animation, highlighting both the traditional cel painting and modern digital art, which offers a unique look into the animation behind some of Disney’s most adored feature films.

Pixie dust heralds the final element of animation, completing the arc from sketch, to pencil test, to ink and paint, leading to the result—storytelling. As dinner begins to wind down and desserts are selected, a grand “Drawn to Magic” finale begins, immersing guests in an animated show about a hero’s journey through Disney and Pixar animation from wishing upon a star to happily ever after.

The tale begins as the room darkens so that the illuminated digital canvases can tell the story of dreams, featuring iconic wishing moments from films like Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty and more. “When You Wish Upon a Star” tugs at heartstrings, as guests reminisce with the characters of dreams and wishes.

The arrival of the Blue Fairy from the classic feature film Pinocchio, brings hope—and a dash of magic—to these stories, imparting a rich splash of color to the walls of Animator’s Palate, for the first time. With their dreams coming true, characters like Cinderella, Merida, Peter Pan and more show guests how animation can tell a story of beauty, hope, magic and wonder. Guests soar through the clouds with Aladdin and Jasmine, tumble to Wonderland with Alice and explore a new world with Ariel. The storytelling continues as the walls shift to a lighter, golden color with clips of lovable Disney characters featuring some of their most memorable, humorous and endearing moments. As the stories continue and become more intense, the room melds into more colors, bringing new life to the stories.

The show takes a dramatic turn when these fanciful dreams are interrupted by fearsome Disney villains—from Maleficent to Jafar—drenching the entire room in a deep crimson red for the first time during the show. This dramatic shift in the lighting plunges guests into the story as characters, taking them on a fearful journey of darkness and despair, finally halting when the protagonists have been overcome.

Wearied and worn, the canvases return to their normal state, and the walls become a pale washed-out color—our heroes have been defeated, and hope seems lost.

As with happy endings though, magic, faith—and a little bit of pixie dust—raises our heroes (and guests), proving that dreams and hope prevail. Scenes from classic and modern Disney films play on canvases around the room, as the walls flash with moving watercolor medleys, bathing the black and white room in full color. The celebration comes to life, with a parade of color and “transformed” wait staff, led by Sorcerer Mickey, who knows more than anyone, that wishing and dreams can change everything.

Set to an eloquent score composed by Randy Miller, and recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California, this show features music and animation from popular Disney movies that range from Disney’s classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to the contemporary, including Disney’s hit feature film, Frozen.
