Port Orleans French Quarter

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 18:52
We will be staying at the POFQ for the first time come this November. We're from NOLA and figured it would be kind of nice to stay someplace like home. Does anyone have any thoughts on this hotel? Reviews? It's just the two of us and the hotel seems romantic which is a plus! :cloud9:

January or February 2018: which week?

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 17:11
I am planning a trip for a group of 8 or 9 people, looking at early 2018. The plan is to check in on a Sunday, stay 6 nights, and check out on Saturday. I want to avoid the marathon and MLK weeks due to the crowds. Would going 1/7-1/13, sandwiched between the marathon and MLK, be ok crowd-wise or should we consider later January or early February instead? We won't be doing any park time on Sunday or Saturday. Thanks!

Swan and Dolphin Yea or Nay?

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 16:39
Thinking of staying at Swan. Will it be similar to Disney resorts? I heard that they don't link to magic band. How does extra magic hours work if they don't link to bands?

Busses

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 16:32
I'm not sure where to post this .... move as necessary ....

I've just returned from a nearly perfect trip. Nearly perfect would have been perfect if the bus transportation would have been working at all. They now schedule estimated bus times at every 20 minutes (when did that change .. November it was 15). I can say with all certainty that time frame is not an accurate representation of the actual times. We stayed two nights at POP, arriving early to get into the Magic. The busses were running slow, but okay. We moved over to AOA for 5 additional nights as we needed more room for the kids. The busses at Art were horrible. Actually, knowing that it's a relative short walk from POP to Art, we 98% of the time used the POP busses to get us "home". It was so bad, actually, that a man walked out into the lane of busses leaving the MK, stopping them, to complain that he had stood in line over one hour. They entertained his conversation with him finally coming back to the bus depot to try to incite others in doing the same. Security never came, no one said a thing to him. Over the course of the week on property we noticed huge lines for busses at most all resorts, so it was not a value versus a deluxe thing. After the 9 pm fireworks at MK, one evening, we headed to the busses and waited well over an hour. The incoming busses used to come in droves after fireworks to get people moving, but this time, the busses came in fewer numbers and most drove right on by, empty, exiting, headed elsewhere. My thinking is they're reducing free bus availability so we will pay for the new service provided using vans directly to each destination. I did notice many of those over the course of the week. With this amenity seemingly slipping away, housekeeping at an all-time low, what drives us to continue to stay on property .... ??

DCL Drinking Age

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 16:21
We have a 20yo who will turn 21 a week after we return to port. We're not expecting that she'd drink like spring break while vacationing with her family, but what are the rules for alcohol consumption at sea? Do they follow the US standard of 21 if sailing from a US port? We were just curious if she could have a drink at dinner or by the pool if we were? Thanks!

Magic Kingdom First Aid Temporary Location

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 14:06
Hi All,

I just read that the First Aid Centre will be moving for the summer, and for those who use it on a regular basis, a heads-up might be important.

From Disney:

From July 11 until August 17, the Magic Kingdom First Aid location on Main Street, U.S.A. will undergo a refurbishment, and First Aid will be temporarily relocated to Tomorrowland (the temporary location will be adjacent to the entrance of Space Mountain). Magic Kingdom Park guidemaps, Times Guides, and the My Disney Experience app will be updated to reflect this change. Baby Care will not be affected by this refurbishment and will continue to be open.

Additionally, during this refurbishment, the Wish Lounge will relocate to the exit lobby at Hall of Presidents. Wish Lounge Guests should check in with Guest Relations at the Liberty Square Ticket Office.

Disney Visa Cardmember Perks

intercot.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 13:13
I recently got a Disney Visa and have been reviewing all of the card member perks in the informational pamphlet, like the character meet and greets and all that. But I'm a little confused - how do you get to these special card holder areas? How do cast members know that you are a card member? I'm assuming you just show the card but just wanted to know if I'm thinking too hard.

I'm most of all looking forward to the Star Wars meet and greet for card holders :darth:

Thanks for all your help! 24 days left until we get in that car and drive to Florida and I couldn't be happier!

Club Penguin Island event at Disney’s Blizzard Beach on July 29

TheDisneyBlog.com - Wed, 2017-07-05 11:52

For all its famous talk of synergy, there is a surprising lack of cooperation between the parks and interactive divisions of the Walt Disney Company. Other than a small mostly-hidden, arcade in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there isn’t much right now. One would think that every room would have some Disney...
