Offsite stay - can lead to big savings.

intercot.com - Thu, 2018-04-12 16:31
I know a lot of people on intercot will not consider staying offsite (I used to be one of those people), but I want everyone to know there are deals to be had out there. Last night I booked a 3 bedroom/ 3 bath townhouse for the week of Thanksgiving. Total cost for the week is $1071.

Just for fun I did a quick search on Disney's website, the best I could do for a party our size, for the same week was $2,370 in a All Star Music family suite.

Incase you are interested I found this deal on Vacation Rentals by Owner.

Epcot Has Sprung into Spring with New Menu Items at Popular Restaurants

intercot.com - Wed, 2018-04-11 23:27
Beyond all the new eats at the Flower & Garden Festival, Epcot has sprung into Spring with new menu items at popular restaurants around the park:

The first is a Breakfast Croissant Sandwich – eggs, bacon, and Colby Jack on a flaky croissant and served with a side of breakfast potatoes. The second is a fantastic Breakfast Broccoli and Egg-White Soufflé served with a multigrain croissant and fresh fruit. And if you plan to return to Sunshine Seasons later in the day, there are a couple new items on the lunch and dinner menus as well – like the Rotisserie Turkey Breast Club Sandwich that comes with roasted turkey breast, bacon jam, and avocado spread served on fresh ciabatta bread. There’s also the Tuna Poke Salad – a noodle and wakame seaweed salad topped with tuna poke, spicy mayonnaise and sweet soy. And then there’s my personal favorite – the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with coleslaw and garnished with a fresh, crisp pickle!

Another good option for lunch would be Electric Umbrella, where a Mojo Pulled Pork Burger, a Brisket Sandwich, and a Vegetable Quinoa Salad have been added to the menu. The Mojo Pulled Pork Burger comes with cilantro and lime aïoli; and the Brisket sandwich comes with a delicious beer cheese sauce. And for a vegetarian option, the Veggie Quinoa Salad consists of quinoa, riced cauliflower, pickled carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, edamame, and agave-lime dressing.

... at Refreshment Port near Canada, you may have noticed that a special poutine has been tempting the taste buds of our guests. Here you’ll find two new poutine offerings: Traditional Poutine consisting of french fries topped with beef gravy and cheese curds and Signature Poutine consisting of french fries topped with Canadian cheddar-bacon sauce and cheese curds. And you can still get that deliciously sweet Croissant Doughnut with cinnamon sugar and the option to top it with vanilla, chocolate, or swirl soft-serve ice cream. For the adults out there, you might want to try the specialty Bloody Mary!

... at Liberty Inn in the American Adventure, new to the menu are Fried Shrimp and a Fried Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, pimento cheese, and smoked bacon. On the lighter side, you can try the new Cobb Salad with warm chicken, green apples, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs, blue cheese, and bacon, topped with a sherry vinaigrette. And for dessert, we welcome two new desserts with open mouths: an Apple Pie Cheesecake and a Marshmallow Cookie Crunch Cupcake!

Driving from Philly. Where to stopover?

intercot.com - Wed, 2018-04-11 17:02
Finalizing details for our next trip in the beginning of November. Airfare is nuts right now for our travel dates so we are fairly certain we’ll be driving from Philadelphia with our almost-4yo DD. We’ve done the drive before, but it was 10 years ago- no kids! So we drove right through. I figured I’d pop in here and see if anybody had a recommendation for a favorite and relatively inexpensive hotel by 95 to stay at for our stopover?
We are most likely leaving Halloween around 6 and figure we can at least make it to Richmond, maybe even a little further.

TV channels in rooms?

intercot.com - Wed, 2018-04-11 16:24
Does anyone know if the TV's in the resort rooms catch the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)? My son will appear as an extra in an episode of Queen Sugar, and it looks like it will air while we are in Disney. Of course we will set the DVR at home, but he may want to watch it when it airs. I don't know of any way we could record it from our room???? Not even sure if Disney resort rooms have that channel?

Art of Animation bus service? food court?

intercot.com - Tue, 2018-04-10 13:53
We are staying at POP Century next month. Depending on where our room is located, it looks like we could get to the AOA food court just as easily as the POP food court. We may head over there for breakfast and hop on their bus to the parks.

Can anyone tell me how efficient their bus route is? Do they share it with another resort? Last time we stayed at POP, they had their own bus route, but that was before AOA opened. (One reason why we prefer POP over the All Star resorts!)

I'm guessing breakfast at the AOA food court would be comparable to breakfast at POP food court . . . Is that correct? Any big differences in their menus or quality of food?
